It is a common design rule to place the biggest piece of furniture along the longest wall in a room. This is especially true for home staging and most of all if the room is not particularly big. In this case the living room was open on two sides while the remaining two had respectively a fireplace and a window. We decided to place the sofa along the longest wall, which is the one with the window, in order to create a better flow from the dining room to the living room.
